Pre-Civil War stamped brass Militia panel plate with spread-winged eagle at center with a single star on the top section of the shield on his chest. Eagle is surrounded by a thin border with 12 five-pointed stars intertwined with a garland of oak leaves. The face of the plate looks to have been lightly cleaned.
Reverse has tongue and belt attachment bar. Item dates from the 1840’s to the 1850’s and is seen in many period photographs of militia soldiers.
