This Federal belt plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a very clear “US”. Face has an attractive dark patina. The plate remains in good condition save the right-hand edge which appears to have been recently shut in a drawer. Lead filled back retains 100% of lead fill. Soldier’s initials carved in the lead. This is the style with “arrow” hooks; all three hooks remain.

Still attached to a 10” portion of the leather waist belt. Leather stenciled with “55” on the inside.   [jet] [ph:L]
