Face has a dark patina with crisp, excellent detail. The eagle’s chest with patriotic shield, wing edges and oak leaf wreath are very high in relief. Despite the light surface dirt the face of the plate is impressive.
Reverse has light to moderate surface dirt and matches the face in patina. The tongue is a little wider than normal making this a mid to late-war plate. There is no benchmark. [ad] [ph:L]
