Post-Civil War militia belt buckle, circa 1865-1890. Cast brass buckle with Massachusetts state seal. Very high detail. Measures 53mm x 86mm and retains perfect curve. This has the narrow ½ inch wide hook on back. Bench mark “351” on back in corner, additionally a “23” is found stamped on the back. No keeper.
Brass has smooth, mellow patina overall with green in all the recessed crevices. [jet] [ph:L]
