This Federal box plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US”. The brass face was polished some time ago, leaving some dark residue in recessed edges. There are a few light scratches on the face. No dings or dents on the edge. Lead filled back is clean and retains 100% of lead fill. No maker’s mark. The iron wire loops are rusty but complete.
A nice belt plate with mellow patina. [jet][ph:L]
