The small New Jersey state militia plate from the Indian Wars era (late 1870s to 1880s) is most commonly found as a brass oval "NJ" plate affixed to the front flap of a Model 1874 McKeever cartridge box, though some of these pattern plates were introduced during the Civil War for state units.

This example retains its mounting loops and a good bit of its brilliant finish. A few small dents and scratches are scattered across the face and edges. Lead fill is intact with a few scuffs.  An old piece of leather is still mounted to the right mounting loop, which has been separated into individual mounting wires.  Dimensions are 1.7” x 2.75”.
