This canteen comes to us unmarked and unstamped, but retains its original brown wool cover in complete condition and the remnants of a heavier canvas tape sling. The wool cover shows a fair amount of spotting and staining – surely evidence of a storied service life.
Surface rust is noted across each sling attachment loop, while the spout remains smooth (the rest is obscured by the cover). Intact whip stitching holds the cover halves securely together and around the tin body of the canteen.
This is a good, honest US canteen – perfect for the collector or for display. [jet][ph:L]
