Offered is a Philadelphia Depot canteen bearing the makers name "Hadden, Porter & Booth Phila" on the spout, which were produced under contract in August of 1863, and February 1864. The jean wool cover displays scattered wear but remains quite sound for its age, with its original linen shoulder strap is worn but intact. The original cork stopper is complete and in place, unsecured by cord or chain. Some light oxidation is noted on the halves of the body and along the concentric rings, visible through small holes in the cover.

An honest canteen with mid-wartime provenance – a perfect piece for the collector of Civil War accoutrements.  [cm][ph:L]
