Pair of Medical Service epaulettes with tinned carrying case.
Body of each epaulette is made of gold cloth material outlined in bright gold bullion. Anchor buttons are General Service Eagle buttons. The field of each epaulette has captain’s bars done in silver bullion thread and outlined in silver dead bullion.
Raised brass clamshell is outlined with a double row of thick twisted bullion. Inside the clamshell is a gold bullion pillow with the initials “MS” done in silver bullion thread surrounded by a wreath of bright gold bullion thread and sequins. Tassels are in good condition and are made of thick twisted bullion wire. The surfaces of these epaulettes do show some minor wear from age and storage.
Undersides of the clamshells are lined with red cloth while the bodies are lined with red leather. Undersides have white metal channels for attaching to a stud. Undersides are marked “LEFT” and “RIGHT.”
Tin case is japanned and also shows signs of age. No dents but numerous scratches and surface finish loss. Latch works and carrying handle is present. [ad] [ph:L]
