The non-dug Napoleonic plate of stamped brass is the Infantry Model of 1810 which was in use until 1815 well after the introduction of the more iconic but actually less used Model 1812 (with the eagle surmounting the amazon shield). This plate was at one time in the 19th century Cotton Museum at Waterloo opened almost immediately after the battle! This plate was reported to have been picked up by a farmer immediately after the Battle Ligne fought against the Prussians on June 16th, 1815. For decades afterward it was in the famous Daniel Adolphe collection of New Rochelle NY. It was acquired by the consignor in 2008. The unexcavated patina is fine, and the condition is perfect.  [pe][ph:L]
