Presented here in fine original condition is a non-regulation bullion “Irish Harp” insignia. Beautifully made, the insignia is constructed on a harp-shaped piece of thin paper and cloth base. Finely detailed and well-executed, this piece is embroidered of silver bullion spun and twisted and sewn to the base material.
This “Harp” insignia specimen is in very excellent condition, tight and strong and exhibits no pulls, fraying or blemishes. No loop fasteners on the backside as this would have been sewn in place. A scrap of original packing paper remains on back.
Highly desirable and difficult to find, this “Irish Harp” insignia is a superb example of a non-regulation hat device worn by many officers of Irish descent during the mid to late nineteenth century. [jet][ph:L]
