This is an original die for stamping Marine Corps EGA (Eagle, Globe, & Anchor) insignia. The style of the insignia is the Model of 1872. These were mostly used on the Model 1881 dress pith helmet.

The base is the female portion of the die. It measures approximately 5” x 5” x 3” and is very heavy. The top punch, or male portion, would have been mounted to a hydraulic press arm. It measures about 4.5” in diameter.

Engraved details remain strong. There is some minor oxidation and light surface rust scattered over the pieces.  Weighs approximately 20 pounds.

Interesting and impressive piece of U.S. Marine, and general military insignia history.  [jet][ph:jet]

Extra shipping charge likely required.
