This is a leather shoulder sling designed for use with Civil War muskets.
The sling has a fixed leather loop at one end and a flat brass hook on the other, which is mounted under a sewn down flap. The hook engaged one of holes along the length of the sling, which allowed the length to be adjusted. There is no additional sliding leather loop. The sling is approximately 45” long overall including the brass hook, and 1.2” wide with tooled edge.
This original musket sling is in used condition. Brown leather; unstamped. There is some cracking to the surface finish, but the leather remains supple. There are two fixed “folds” showing it was mounted on a musket for a long time. It could easily be put onto a musket again. [jet][ph:L]
