This is a leather shoulder sling designed for use with Civil War muskets.
The sling has a fixed leather loop sewn to one end and a brass hook on the other, which is mounted under a sewn down flap. The hook engaged one of holes along the length of the sling, which allowed the length to be adjusted. The sling is approximately 50” long overall including the brass hook, and 1.2” wide.
This original musket sling is in very good, used condition. Black leather; no maker’s marks. There are swivel “creases” visible showing where this was mounted on a musket at one time. Leather is pliable and could be put onto a musket again. [jet][ph:L]
