This is a leather shoulder sling designed for use with Civil War muskets.
The sling has a fixed leather loop at one end and a brass wire hook on the other, which is mounted under a sewn down flap. The hook engaged one of holes along the length of the sling, which allowed the length to be adjusted. There is also a sliding leather loop remaining. The sling is approximately 47” long overall including the brass hook, and 1.2” wide.
This original musket sling is in very good, used condition. Brown leather, tooled edges; no maker’s marks. “M S Rogers” is inked onto the leather. Leather is pliable and could be put onto a musket again. [jet][ph:L]
