Offered here is a vintage leather flag holder. This is a single strap model with roller buckle and pocket for flag pole.
Leather strap is in good complete condition. Made of tarred leather, the three-piece sling was to be worn around the marcher’s neck during parades to carry the flag. It consists of two, leather belt-like sections and a leather tapered cup. One belt section is folded over and riveted to secure a large, japanned, roller buckle. Opposite end stitched to a heavy 3” high, 2.5” diameter leather cup. Second belt section has eight small holes to catch the buckle tooth while the opposite end is stitched to the leather cup. Two rivets supply additional strength to the strap/cup connection. There is one sliding belt loop to secure the extra flap.
In operation, the flag pole would rest in the cup while the marcher held the mid part of the pole. All leather is strong and supple with just light bubbling on the surface. Belt is unmarked. [jet] [ph:L]
