Leather waistbelt is in fair condition. It is beginning to dry out so it shows moderate surface crackling throughout. Belt is full length up to the plate where it has broken. Over the years the weight of the plate has caused the belt to tear right behind the arrow hooks.
The Pattern 1839 oval belt plate is in nice used condition. Face shows minor surface wear and the edge has scattered small dings. Reverse has 100% of the lead fill, both arrow hooks and tongue.
The cap box has a “US” stamped front and center of the outer flap. Latch tab is missing the tip. There is also some surface finish loss along the flap edges and top. The inner flap is complete with both ears. Interior has worn lamb’s wool but no pick. The body of the box is good with the pear-shaped brass finial at bottom. Reverse has both leather belt loops. Overall condition of the leather is solid. [ad] [ph:L]
