US PATTERN 1839 BELT PLATE WITH “W.H. SMITH / BROOKLYN” ON BELT

$495.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 362-1111

This non-excavated Federal belt plate is of the regulation 1839 pattern. Constructed in the die-struck and rolled brass method, the brass accoutrement’s face shows a clear “US”. Face shows only slight wear and has a nice bright appearance. Lead filled back retains 100% of lead fill. The maker’s mark is stamped in the center of the plate: “W.H. SMITH / BROOKLYN.” This is the early style with “puppy-paw” hooks.

Plate is attached to a regulation bridle leather enlistedman’s waist belt. The belt measures approximately 38” long by 1.75” wide. Leather shows use, but remains in very good condition..

A fine Civil War waist belt with marked belt plate.   [jet] [ph:L]
