This is an officer’s sword belt rig in very good condition. Belt is constructed of folded leather that is stitched. Nice tooled edge on belt. Belt measures approximately 30” long overall x 1.6” wide. Leather is smooth and supple with light wear. Line of stitching that held buckle separated and is now held together with knotted leather tie. There is no leather “uniform protector” (which goes behind buckle when worn) on this belt. No sliding belt loops on belt.
Complete with one long, one short sword drops. Drops are complete with brass hardware. Belt has one break that was unprofessionally repaired with stitches and glue. No “Sam Brown” shoulder strap.
Pattern 1851 style of buckle features high relief details on front and narrow tongue on back. Old English “NY” surrounded by wreath. “H” bench mark on back.
Overall, a very good and complete New York officer’s sword belt that would look good on a uniform display. [jet] [ph:L]
