O’Donnell and Campbell date this plate ca. 1890-1905 and show it as Plate 870 in company with some similar plates used by other states about the same time. This is a die-struck rolled brass rectangular plate with clipped corners. “VNG” appears in raised, intertwined script letters. A brass bar belt loop and broad flat hook are applied on the reverse. The belt uses the typical brass wire loops for adjustment and fastening. The leather has good color and surface with minor scuffs. Given the size of the state this is likely a scarce belt plate.    [sr][ph:L]
