This is an NCO sword belt rig with fine buckle mounted on well-worn leather.
Belt is constructed of bridle leather with long and short sword “drops” attached. Belt is 1.9” wide and approximately 32” long as it is set, but with an extra 7” available to expand. There is one floating belt loop present. Complete with one long and one short sword drop. Drops are complete with brass hardware and are stitched and riveted to the belt. There is no “Sam Brown” shoulder strap. All leather remains soft and flexible and is well worn with loss of finish on drops.
Pattern 1851 style of buckle features high relief details on front and narrow (0.5”) tongue on back. Complete with brass keeper. A matching bench number “856” is stamped into the reverse of the buckle and keeper. Buckle has great detail with bright silver wreath.
A good and displayable Civil War officer’s sword belt that would look good on a uniform display. [jet][ph:L]
