This is a nice example of the pattern of belt that started to filter into widespread issuance in late 1863 among Federal enlisted soldiers.  It features an arrow back plate with a dull finish, both arrow attachment prongs, and complete tongue. A correct brass keeper with a similarly oxidized finish is firmly attached.  All leather is complete, with no cracks or tears, while some of the black dye remains dark and rich.  Though the leather is a bit dry, it remains supple. Overall length is 40”.

An essential and widely used item for the collector of Civil War accoutrements.  It would display very nicely.   [cm][ph:L]
