Civil War era non-commissioned officer’s belt buckle on original buff leather waist belt.
Cast brass eagle buckle which has a three-piece applied German silver wreath and has the narrow 0.5” wide hook on back. The detail of the eagle remains very good. The brass is mostly clear with the exception of a dark oxidation surrounding much of the wreath. Mismatched bench marks on buckle and keeper.
Buff leather waist belt is 1.75” wide with brass keeper sewn (no rivets) to one end and with brass adjuster hook on the other. Surface of the leather shows no wear with fine brown tone. Underside is cream color with moderate age spotting.
A very nice belt set. [jet] [ph:L]
