Originally all buff, this infantryman's belt was blackened just prior to or during the Civil War. Faded to a brown the once buff leather waist belt measures approximately 2 inches wide by 39 inches long. The interior surface of the belt is the original white buff color. One end has been cut/punched with holes to accept a US belt plate with "puppy paws", and the opposite end holds the brass belt keeper. It shows evidence of limited wear. [pe][ph:L]
