Offered here is a late 19th century officer’s (or cadet’s) belt buckle on original waist belt. A light weight belt and buckle likely for dress events.
Stamped sheet brass eagle buckle which resembles the model 1851 belt plates. Exhibits a nice patina and the detail of the eagle remains very good. Applied wire belt loop on back along with 1.65” wide sheet brass hook.
Thin bridle leather waist belt is about 1.5” wide with faint evidence of a tooled edge. Brass wire keeper riveted (with iron split rivets) on one end with another behind the buckle’s belt loop to allow for length adjustment. Black leather surface shows heavy cracking and crazing. [jet][ph:L]
