This m1851 Non-commissioned Officer’s Belt comes to us in a complete condition, retaining all leather and hardware. The brass, two-piece belt plate features matching bench numbers “661” on the plate and keeper - with no other markings. Leather is supple with strong stitching andf light crazing throughout. Two horizontal cuts were made to the middle section of the belt and measure about an inch respectively. The brass adjustment/retention hook remains securely attached and both original and size holes show repeated use. Belt measures 1.7” in width, and 39” in length (unfastened).
The military holster is in solid condition with complete stitching and no major cracking. Three rivets securely attach the belt loop to the body and one rivet secures the closure tab. The faint outline of a Colt is noted, primarily the cylinder. A crease is noted at the midpoint of the holster’s barrel channel and the closing finial has been re-attached at some point with a brown adhesive. Holster measures 13” from the tip to the top flap (closed).
All told, an excellent and very displayable pairing of items for the Civil War accoutrement collector. [jet][ph:L]
