The leather on this box is in very good condition.
The outer flap has a faint “US” just to the left of the latch tab stitching. The latch tap shows some surface finish loss but it is solid. The tab is attached to the flap by a large rivet and an arc of stitching. The makers mark on the bottom edge of the flap reads “J. DAVY & CO. NEWARK, N.J.”
The interior of the box is in nice condition showing hardly any wear. The bottom of the box has a brass pear-shaped finial.
The reverse has both belt loops with each showing some light surface crazing. [sr] [ph:L]
