This is a nice example of a Confederate-made percussion cap pouch. In good condition, this pouch looks much like its northern counterpart. The whole pouch is constructed of leather which has been heavily tarred. The latch tab sewn to the flap and remains strong. There is minor crazing to the finish on the belt loop and body. The finial is brass. This finial had been torn out of the leather and has been repaired. The single belt loop is of thin leather and 1 ½” wide…a definite Confederate characteristic. There is no inner flap.  No original lamb’s wool, but some loose wool has been stuffed in the pouch. Leather is slightly stiff. All stitching is complete and tight. This is as typical a Confederate percussion cap pouch as you can get.   [jet][ph:L]
