Indian Wars era box, with WATERVLIET ARSENAL markings on back of closing tab, between the belt loops.
Constructed of two halves and hinged with a brass rod. Interior features stitched straps for twenty .45-70 Springfield trapdoor cartridges. “Bulge” on right side for gun tool. Brass finial on top. Closing tab has brass reenforced hole. Two narrow belt loops on back.
Leather is in fine condition; stitching remains tight and unbroken.
A small, oval New Jersey “NJ” plate is attached to the front. This is in excellent condition and adds a nice appearance to the piece. [jet] [ph:L]
