This is a Confederate-made percussion cap pouch. The leather is in very good overall condition. This pattern has the "square" outer flap with closing tab sewn to the underside. The latch tab is broken at the hole but has been "repaired". The interior flap is equally nice. Both side “ears” remain firmly sewn in place. Fleece remains inside. The small leather "loop" for a nipple pick is sewn to the left side here, unlike typical Federal pouches. But no nipple pick. Bottom of pouch has a nice lead finial.
The single belt loop on the back is 1-3/8" wide. All stitching is complete and tight.
This is as typical a Confederate percussion cap pouch as you can get. From the Texas Civil War Museum collection. [jet] ph:L]
