This is a well-worn Civil War percussion cap pouch.

This pattern has the closing tab as a continuation of the outer flap. This latch tab is unbroken. The surface of the leather on the outer flap shows heavy crazing leaving the oval sub-inspector’s stamp only lightly visible. The interior flap has both “ears” sewn in place. Fleece remains as does the nipple pick and a several caps. Bottom has brass finial. Only one of the narrow belt loops remains on the back and it is broken. Other stitching remains strong.

A good displayable example of a Civil War cap pouch.  [jet] [ph:L]
