This is a Civil War-era percussion cap pouch. The leather shows light wear overall.

This pattern has the closing tab sewn to the underside of the somewhat square-shaped outer flap. This latch tab is unbroken. No makings of any sort. The interior flap has both “ears”, one is hanging on by just a few threads and the other is fine. No fleece, no nipple pick. Bottom has brass finial.

Both narrow belt loops remain in place on back and are only stitched in place. All stitching (other than the one “ear”) remains strong and intact.

A nice representative Civil War cap pouch received from the Texas Civil War Museum collection.  [jet][ph:L]
