Black bridle leather cartridge box with lightly embossed “R.I.M.” on the flap. Closing tab stitched and riveted to the outer flap; complete and unbroken. Inside is a two-tier wood block with drilled holes for eighteen .45-70 cartridges. Hinge is reinforced with brass wire, with flat brass support slats around sides. Narrow belt loops riveted and sewn to back. Stamped “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” between the belt loops.
Leather is in very good condition overall. A fine Indian-fighting army collectible. [jet][ph:L]
