Offered here is a nice leather hunting pouch associated with the famous rifles. A leather ball pouch like this and a powder horn were necessary accessories for the frontier hunter.
The “bag” of this piece measures 7” x 6” overall with two compartments inside and a flap over the front. A 1.75” wide shoulder strap is sewn to the back and extends about 18” above the bag. The strap has an old repaired tear. The shoulder strap also has a matched set of holes punched 5” above the bag which likely was where a powder horn was once attached.
Old brown leather shows good wear but remains soft and supple. [jet][ph:L]
