This elegant leather pouch is tin lined. The tin internal box has a single compartment; it is painted brown and was designed to hold pre- packaged cartridges. The mid-brown leather exterior of the box measures 4 1/4 inches by 3 inches. There are 2 loops on the back to facilitate attachment to the belt. There is a leather closing tab and a brass finial. The box is all hand stitched. Affixed to the front flap is an open work finely cast badge that is possibly silver that has the pre-1877 royal cypher of Queen Victoria a tufted crown over "VR" (After 1877 it would read "VRI"). But for minor scuffing this beautiful cartridge box is in excellent condition and is the only one of its type known to this compiler who has been doing this over 60 years! [pe][ph:L]
