This is a black leather holster made to accommodate the Colt, Remington, and other revolvers. A Colt .44 caliber “Army” model fits into this.
The holster “pocket” measures 11.5” along its front edge. Holster is made of black bridle leather. The flap and belt loop are separate pieces, each sewn to the back. The belt loop is also riveted. The original leather closing tab is sewn and riveted to the flap and remains unbroken. The associated brass finial also remains tightly attached.
Belt loop is approximately 3.5” wide along the top fold and is attached by three rivets and a double line of stitching at the bottom edge. The leather plug remains sewn in at the bottom of the holster. There are no maker’s stamps.
In overall good, solid condition, this holster shows some use. There is moderate finish crazing overall, with some finish loss, mostly around the flap “hinge” area.
This is a good, military-style flap holster that would accommodate a large Civil War revolver. [jet][ph:L]
