Leather scabbard is in good condition. The black leather body shows only light wear and with minor chips to finish. Slightly flexible, particularly in one spot approx 4" above the brass tip, but no breaks. Stitching is complete with no splits. Brass tip is in place and is undented. Scabbard frog is heavily tarred and has two brass “eagle” buttons. The thin “belt loop” near the throat has a small (1/2)” piece missing. A canvas shoulder sling would have been attached to these buttons.

This sword was probably sold by Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York. The pattern is pictured in their 1864 catalogue in figures 13 and 16. Rather than have a standard blade, the lightly curved 32 inch blade has "B.K." (Battery K) on the left… (870-447). Learn More »
