English Delft porcelain jar features gold gilt bands with a cartouche label that reads, “UNG: HYDRARG:”, flanked by scrollwork, turtles and flowers. This was for an ointment made from mercury which was used for skin conditions. Jar is free of cracks and chips. Gold gilt has worn in areas. Remains of dried substance attached to inside bottom of jar.
Measures 12 ¼” high x 3 ½” at the base. [sm]
