This dates about 1900 or so and is one of six clocks made by the E. Ingraham Clock Company of Bristol, Connecticut, as their “army and navy” series. Made of pressed oak, the top center is reserved for Admiral Dewey. The other five clocks represented President McKinley, the U.S.S. Maine, Fitzhugh Lee (for the southern market,) the dove of Peace, and the American eagle. Motifs could be mixed and matched to a degree. This shows the crossed flags and cannonballs on the upper wings that are on the Lee clock in the company catalog, along with the cannon, cannonballs, rammer and flag that appears on the lower side panels on them all, as do the alternating stars and fouled anchors around the base. The glass has reverse stenciled (or silkscreened) flags, swords, and anchors at bottom and a ship at top that is likely meant to be his Cruiser Olympia. The pendulum is beautifully cast with an eagle landing on a United States shield with a sunburst and star “glory” behind and around it.

The wood and glass are excellent. The clock face shows some dirt near the keyhole, likely from winding. The clock measures 23 inches tall, about 15 inches wide and about 5 inches deep. Special pickup or delivery arrangements will have to be made. We have a key, but can’t guarantee it runs. If it does not, however, we can guarantee it will be precisely accurate twice a day. This would great in a Spanish American War display, especially one showing how the war was received and commemorated in popular culture.  [sr] [ph:m]
