bottom. Hinged lid shows scrollwork designs in the corners, with an image of Masonic symbols in the center. Original clasp and peg are present. Inside of box lid is a paper label from Williamson & Foster of Lancaster, PA. Front side of box is stamped, “16 ½”. Inside a collar remains. Collar is ivory with a coral colored print.
Box measures 4 ¾” square by 3 ¼” tall. Wood shows very light surface scratches or scuffs. Hinges are tight.
This would be a splendid and functional item for a gentleman of today, just as it was in the 19th century. [sl][ph:L]
