Simple and functional 1880s parasol from the Texas Civil War Museum. The ecru plain-weave cotton covered is accented with hand-worked entredeux at the top of the 1¾" hem. Self-fabric ruffle at base of tip. Square wooden shaft; black japanned metal ribs. Measurements: Curved canopy measures 33” in diameter along outer curve; 26" diameter straight across. Square stick measures ¾" on each side at bottom, tapering to ⅜" at top before transitioning into a circular shaft 1/4" in diameter. Overall length of stick, base-to-tip = 36". Condition: Fair to Good. Canopy intact without any holes; some small scattered rust and oil stains. [cs][ph:L]
