Group of three 1875-1910 garments, one chemisette and two camisoles, from the Texas Civil War Museum.
Item 1307-25a - This 1870s-1880s cotton lace chemisette would look lovely under an open front bodice. It is constructed with a 3" high standing collar, a V-neckline opening, and a straight front. Vertical panels of lace edging, needle lace, filet lace, and bobbinet are joined in a pleasing design. Condition: Fair-Good. There are a few small stains and one 1" section where the stitching between the lace strips has pulled away. Measurements: Neckline - 15". Length = 19" from shoulder to bottom edge. Width = 9½"
Item 1307-25b - Early 20th century camisole made from very fine ivory machine-made lace with a deep pointed edge at the top. The shoulder straps made from lace insertion and edging. The body is cut without any shaping at the waist; the center front closes with six small snaps. Modern blue satin ribbon is threaded through the eyelets at the top and on the straps. Condition: Good; some scattered small rust spots. Measurements: Bust and Waist = 35". Length = approximately 12", not including the points on the trimming.
Item 1307-25c – Camisole c.1900-1910 made of ivory silk with a lace yoke. A narrow lace edging is used for the straps; the bottom of the camisole has a casing with ¼" elastic. Condition: fair; seam separating at side of camisole; some scattered small stains. Measurements = Bust 37½"; Overall length = 8”. [cs][ph:L]
