1870-1880 fascinator with dramatic feather accent from the Texas Civil War Museum collection. The small, oval fascinator, measuring 6" x 7¼", is made from olive straw plait woven with a decorative edge. The plait is sewn to an unlined buckram base with a wired edge that is finished with petersham ribbon. Five pheasant feathers, varying in length from 14"-18" are anchored at the front of the fascinator beneath a yellow bow with multiple loops and ends.

Condition: Good. The base and feathers are intact; the ribbon is slightly faded.    [cs][ph:L]
