Unusual ivory net cap from the Texas Civil War Museum collection. The cap is made from a single piece of ivory cotton net. A drawstring casing creates the crown of the cap, leaving the rest of the net to become a soft frill around the front and sides and a squared bavolet in the back. Fine crocheted chain stitch in a diamond pattern spreads over the crown, with crocheted scallops worked in soft blue-gray thread add additional interest. There is no lining nor wire frame.
Condition: Good. Some age discoloration on the net, some fading of the blue thread. [cs][ph:L]
