An attractive set of forks measuring 8” in length with scroll designs on the handle. Monogrammed “RC” in script lettering. Maker marked in the reverse of the handles, “G. D. CLARK”.
Baltimore silversmith Gabriel Duval Clark was active from c. 1830-1896. Gabriel Duvall Clark was born 25 Mar 1813, Prince George's Parish MD and died 8 Dec 1896, Baltimore MD. A silversmith and jeweler, he apprenticed about 1826 to James A. Foxcroft in Baltimore MD. He was a partner from 1831 to 1839 with James A. Foxcroft in Baltimore MD as FOXCROFT & CLARK, working from a shop at 317 South Calvert Street. He worked from 1840 to 1884 as a silversmith and jeweler in Baltimore MD with shop at 1 Water Street, 1840-1842. [ld] [ph:L]
