Offered here is an interesting, homemade personal care item.

A wood hair comb. I doubt it is fine-toothed enough to call it a lice comb, so we’ll stick with a simple hair comb. The workmanship while simple, is finely done. Made from a thin, half-round piece of wood about 4.25” long. Complete with no broken teeth.

A common mid-19th century personal item and a perfect haversack filler. From the Texas Civil War Museum collection.  [jet][ph:L]
