This photograph of a lithograph of Abraham Lincoln shows him in his younger, pre-war days and is mounted to a plain, white card. The image is housed in a period frame featuring ornated, carved patterning and mounted leaves at each corner. Silvered metallic gilt accentuates the featured image with only a few spots of loss.
The backing is a period wood panel with antique nails securing it in place. A modern picture hanger was added at some point with two copper nails for ease of mounting. The frame measures 8.25” x 10.25”, while the image measures 4.4” x 6.75”.
An interesting portrait from a time before the Civil War and the responsibilities of a nation took their toll on his one-youthful appearance. [cm][ph:L]
