Image meas. approx. 5.00 x 4.25 inches. The photo was taken looking toward a railroad bridge across a small stream or gully. Several Union soldiers can be seen lounging on the bridge with a mounted man off to one side at the far end of the bridge. Also visible on the far side is a large wall tent with stove pipe protruding from the top in front of a row of eight Sibley tents. There is a wood in the far distance where more tents can barely be seen.
Bottom of the mount has a faint period pencil inscription of “U.S.M.R. SMALL (??) HOSPITAL”
Reverse is blank except for a modern notation in pencil that reads “H V ARMSTRONG.” [ad]
