This is a post-Civil War image of an officer in uniform. This is a 4.25” x 6.5” cabinet card photograph. The image is an oval studio bust view of the officer. This man wears a double-breasted frock coat with three-piece, rimmed buttons.
The black mount features the photographer’s imprint on the lower edge, “W.H. ALLEN” from Lawrence, Massachusetts. The backmark graphic covers much of the back of the mount with photographer’s name and address repeated.
The image itself is clean and clear. There is paper adhered around the edges of the front where it was once glued into a frame or album, but overall a fine view of an officer. From the William Turner collection. [jet][ph:L]
