Photograph shows a bust view of freed slave child Rebecca Huger. Printed on mount under the image is: "Rebecca. / A slave child from New Orleans." Photographer's backmark, J.E. McClees, Philadelphia. Also on the back is printed: "Entered, according to act of Congress, in the year 1863, by Robt. E. Corson, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the United States, for the Eastern District of Philadelphia. / The nett [sic] proceeds from the sale of these photographs will be devoted to the education of colored people in the Department of the Gulf, now under the command of Maj. Gen. Banks." Above all is a pencil notation "A daughter of Rebel Gen Huger."
